things i'm grateful for: road trip! (gotha)

and this was the reason why we drove for hours to go to a quiet east german town...

to watch nena live in concert!

nena became quite popular in the 1980s international music scene with her "99 luftballoons" ("99 red balloons" in english).

it was held in the schloss friedenstein.

it's the only concert that i've ever been to that was held in a palace - let alone in germany's oldest baroque palace!

it was just a bit disappointing that we had to leave our cameras with security as they were very, very strict!

mr t even tried to take a photo of the venue using his mobile phone, but a surly guard came up to him and told him that it was not allowed.

the concert was awesome! altough i do not know any of her songs except for "99 red balloons" and "irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann,("anyplace, anwhere, anytime"), i had a great time.

mr t is a big nena fan and he used "irhendwie.." as his groom processional song during our wedding!

the audience was mostly people in their 40s and 50s.nena was an excellent performer! we were kinda worried that it would rain very hard, but it did not.in the middle of the concert, a rainbow appeared and the people cheered.

when the concert was over, we went to the town centre where there was a party happening!

and guess what, there was a (mostly female)bavarian oompah band playing! such a delight.we were dancing in the middle of the square, and thank god the gothans (?) did not particularly care about this strange couple dancing stupidly.haha.that was fun.

anyway, we did some sight-seeing in east germany the next day before we headed back to the west.

where do you wanna go?

ski-jumping, anyone?

back to bavaria...next!
