things i'm grateful for: road trip! (gotha)

we went back to munich and had a bit of rest.then off we went to...east germany! gotha, in particular.i was a bit taken aback with the surrounding as it almost reminded me of tuscany.

and what brought us to the east? you will know if you continue on reading.hee.

we stayed in a b&b just a few minutes away from gotha.

this was the view:

we took an old train to go around gotha.

there was an event going on.lucky!

of course we had to do a lot of sight-seeing.gotha is a baroque town and there are so many historical buildings and interesting details around!

like these antique dolls

and wooden sculptures

gotha was the seat of duke ernst 1 over 300 years ago.

he built a palace called schloss friedenstein.

we spent the afternoon in this beautiful palace with its vast gardens.

there were a lot of activities that were happening.

but my favorites were definitely the medieval shows, arts and crafts, food shops which were just outside the palace!

we even got to try a "medieval" german treat.forgot what it was called.but it was so yummy.

i've always wanted to watch a medieval show, and i almost made a somersault when we saw these performers.they were so funny!

view of the town centre from the palace

more of gotha...next!
