things i'm grateful for: road trip! (bavaria)

so this time we went to starnberg where we were able to peek inside a church wedding and take a snapshot of this cute car.

we went inside the church when the wedding was over.

we were thinking of going for a dip as there was a lake nearby, but it was a bit cold so we just hang out. the lake is called starnberg lake.

we went uphill and passed by these vintage cars

and posed by walchen see, one of the largest alpine lakes in germany!

the next stop was in garmisch.i've written a few times about garmisch before.i really like this place.it's best known as a mountain resort town in bavaria.i met l for the first time here.she's mr t's long-time friend and baby's godmother too!

the next day we headed off to nuernberg, bavaria's second largest city next to munich.

i saw this "thing" on the streets and i have no idea what this is, it looks like some kind of transportation?

we had lunch at this cafe where we met with m, also one of mr t's close friends.

m then took us around the city and very kindly played a tourist guide to the impressionable tourists.hehe.

nuernberg is sooo beautiful and historical!

we went to the square at tiergartnertor and it was like being transported to the middle ages!

you can see the pillars of st sebald church from afar.it was erected in 1230.

schoner brunnen or beautiful fountain, representing the holy roman empire, built in 1389.

frauenkirche or our lady's church, built in 1355.

we went up to see the kaiserburg or the imperial castle, which is located high above the city.

it has this view of rows upon rows of traditional half-timbered houses.

it also has a pretty garden where you can just stroll and forget you are in the middle of the city.

we then walked around a place called the craftsmen's yard where there are shops with traditional crafts (duh).

we passed by a bridge called the executioner's bridge, where between the 15th and 19th century, the executioner lived here (!!!)

the house nearby was a hospital for lepers in the middle ages. it was then used as a wine store, hence its name "weinstadel"

kalowka.

heili-geist-spital or hospice of the holy spirit, built in 1332

it was time to say goodbye to m.we felt so happy being shown around by a local.and i still felt i was stuck in the middle ages! truly! we were just missing a troubadour.whoops, he was there pala! hee hee.

anyway, we got hungry from all these walks so we had sausages (but of course!)

by a fountain called ehekarussell or marriage carousel.so hilarious! the sculptures depict the marriage life, from the rosy years to the terrifying years.haha!

then we were off to...

frankfurt!
