fujairah lovin'

so this time around, mr t and i decided to spend our special day in fujairah.

fujairah is one of the seven emirates of the uae.it is about a two-hour drive from dubai.it's a popular getaway among residents because of its mountains and beaches.

we stayed at rotana al aqah resort and spa.and what do you know, we got upgraded to an ocean-view terrace room! yipee!!!

it was our first time to be upgraded in a hotel.usually we just got whatever we booked.so it was simply wonderful.

we arrived kinda late on a thursday night as we drove directly from work.we had to stop in the petrol station to stock up on food and water as it is ramadan now.you never know which restaurants are open during the day.

we had a mexican-themed buffet dinner at mozaique restaurant

and a sumptous breakfast buffet the next day.

don't you just love hotel buffets??

so this was our room...

and when you draw the curtains and open those glass doors, this is the view...

that's the indian ocean!

it's a pretty hotel.the service was great (as compared to some of the glitzy, pretentious hotels in dubai!)

we went to zen the spa later in the afternoon.well, mr t is not really your spa-lovin' man.but just to indulge me (heee), we each had a massage.he also had a foot scrub and i had a body scrub.

superb, i tell you!

i did not want to come out the spa room.

we then had a very romantic dinner at waves, a beachfront restaurant in the hotel.we just overate, though.hahaha.

well, i could not believe that it was saturday and we had to check-out already!

just when i was zoning out and about to believe that i actually live in that room.

sigh.

so off we drove and admired the mountain ranges of fujairah.

of course, mr t just had to take a detour and drive through a wadi. a wadi is a dry riverbed that fills up with water during the rainy season.well, thank god it was not raining!

we also dropped by the fujairah friday market and got one of these li'l wooden ponies for our li'l baby.

don't let the name of the market fool you.it's open everyday, day and night.we liked the atmosphere.there were fresh fruits and vegetables, cheesy souveneirs and carpets up for grabds. it's a real, raw souk where bargaining is fun and essential.

it was an enjoyable li'l road trip, certainly a unique and delightful experience to celebrate years of being together.oh gosh.

hey mr t, thank you sooo much for this.next time, we should not be carried away by platters of fried seafood and malaysian curry, ey?

and hey universe, thank you for this.the view alone was spectacular.

xoxo
