things i'm grateful for: celebrations

thank you to all who were part of the best ever celebrations in manila and boracay. you all know who you are.i will not elaborate anymore on it as i am still beyond words of how wonderful and beautiful everything turned out to be.it was perfect.it was magical.it was breathtaking.it was our dream turned to reality.

**

now, let's talk about tokyo...

first of all, when people asked mr t and i why we chose to go to tokyo, we had a ready answer: "to absorb the culture." as pretentious as it may sound, that was really what we wanted.

second, it has always been my dream to go to japan as i have a minor in japanese studies.i could not speak the language (gawd, i should have taken seriously all those nihonggo classes!), but deep in the recesses of my mind, i have an understanding of what the country has to offer.

so, yes, i have always wanted to visit japan, and tokyo in particular.back in college, our japanese studies department had always offered trips and cultural awareness tours to japan.i so badly wanted to join these trips, but we could not afford the fees (drama!)

third, we went to tokyo without any expectations.well, not a lot.haha.honestly, i just wanted to see a hello kitty store, ride a bullet train, see mt. fuji and dine at new york bar and grill at park hyatt (my japanese teachers would be horrified! haha).

and mr t just wanted to explore the, err, public transport system.o-kkk.

so off we went, the li'l t family, from the chaos of manila airport, to tokyo, the haven of efficiency.

i'm sorry to all the cities that we had previously visited, but tokyo is the greatest, most amazing city ever.it's sophisticated and historical.it's fashionable and colorful.it's a world on its own.

and the people...please don't let me start talking about the japanese people.they are the kindest, most polite, hardworking people we have ever come across.

tokyo makes all the other cosmopolitan cities in the world pale in comparison.it's like the japanese are these geniuses who manage to create something magnificent while the rest of us are inept in everything else.honestly.

tokyo is...

FRIGGIN' AWESOME!

so much so that if mr t and i would ever win the lottery, we would right away go shopping in tokyo.not in paris, london, new york or milan.

because tokyo is...

FRIGGIN' AWESOME!

yes, i saw hello kity at gift gate, rode the bullet train, admired mt. fuji.no, we did not dine at park hyatt due to time and erm, budget constraints, but i'm telling you, we will go back and boy, we will enjoy the nightlife.yes, we will.

because tokyo is...

FRIGGIN' AWESOME!
