Wonder of the World 2: Great Wall of China and Beijing Memories

day 4

so this was it. the day to view and traverse the great wall of china.we woke up early as we were picked up by our tour guide.yes, it was one of those rare times that we actually joined a tour group.we did not really trust ourselves to find the way going to the great wall so we figured, what the heck, let's just join a group.

it took us an hour and a half to reach the great wall base.

since it was a packaged tour, the guides first brought us to a jade shop where we watched workers creating materials made from jade and other precious stones.

we were at the mutianyu side of the great wall, thus, we had to take a cable car to get up on the wall

the views were magnificent - mountains and villages

and of course parts of the great wall of china itself!

totoo na eto! we reached the great wall and started with our li'l (not!) hike.i was so excited and so was this fellow!

our second wonder, bilibitornot.it just boggles the mind on how great mankind is to create an edifice of such magnitude.

we decided to take the slideway (or toboggan) to go back to the base of the mountain.

yahoo!

oh so worth the blisters and the aches after that climb!

you would think that we would stop and just take a breaker, but not really.it was our last night in beijing and what's the best way to spend it? why, have peking duck at da dong restaurant, of course! this restaurant was highly recommended to us by our great friend, the internet.

yes, we got lost again looking for it it.but we did find it eventually.

oh gawd.i can still remember the thickness of the sauce and the succulence of the duck...

a perfect way to end the day!

next...buh-bye, beijing...
