things i'm grateful for: al ain!

this year is a very busy one for my husband, so a staycation in the uae comes as a blessing for us.

it was sort of a pat-in-the-back gift for ourselves as we managed to keep the household sane as nanny went on three-week holiday.

so amidst summer camps, weather in the 40s, sicknesses, work duties, we emerged triumphant!

we got ourselves a good hotel deal, and off we went to al ain, an oasis in the desert.

it was a very-much needed boost.

don't you just love mini-holidays? they make you anticipate of lovelier things to come!

in times of austerity, what does one with a champagne dream, but with a beer budget do? why, get a coupon book of course! mr t and i would not feel guilty eating out as it's a buy-one-get-one-for-free deal.

it's just the start of the year, but we were are able to use some of the coupons already.

dinner at duo - mark with a cross!they did not accept our coupon as i only ordered a salad, and the coupon states that you have to order a  main dish.boo!

and just as a wonderful surprise, my office gave us another book of coupons with equally thrilling deals!

so we now have these two thick discount/coupon books, and i do not think we will be able to use all of them.

the uae celebrates its national every december 2. as it fell on a friday which is the official weekend in the uae, the government granted december 1 as a holiday.

oma and opa came a-visitin' for about 10 days. baby was very, very happy, surrounded by all these people who love her.it pays that she is already able to say "oma" and "opa."

weekend round-up

we set up our christmas tree last night. hopefully, the trimmings and the overall look of the tree will improve in the years to come, but for now, this is our christmas tree.and we are happy to see it all glittering and shimmering.baby even had a comment on it, "it's nice!"

we were given a very long weekend  due to eid celebrations! so that's friday until tuesday for all of you, my non-uae readers.

it was a weekend just for us! friday was beach day as we took baby out to the sea.and oh, how she loved it!

we were quite surprised as it was not hot as we thought it would be.we went out at around half past seven in the morning, and went back home two hours after.we would not have gone home yet, except that baby swallowed some sea water and we did not have her water bottle with us!

so for the valentine's weekend (meaning the weekend prior to v-day), mr t and i decided to stay at crowne plaza on yas island.it saved us the long drive back to dubai coming from the office and and we got a really goOd deal on the hotel.thank you, office.thank you, *connections*.heee.

my office gave us free passes (thank you!) to the ferrari world theme park, days before its official opening on 27 october.

mr t and i went there last thursday night.it's located at yas island in abu dhabi and it's the largest indoor theme park in the world and the first ever ferrari theme park.now, i'm not a fan of cars so i was basically clueless when we went there.it was all so, uh, red.duh, ferrari color kaya.
