music
i am in senti mode today.
and i also struck gold with finding these music gems.
this video is something that i wished i was part of. it's nostalgic, and it makes me want to go to the vatican again.
http://youtu.be/ghdmveZdhR0
i found this next video through tiborce's blog, and it makes me reminisce about my high school/college days. gawd, I miss my friends.
http://youtu.be/JocM61FVZy0
and this one makes me really, really wistful.
http://youtu.be/ldXFxtqKGmU
best lyrics ever.
so, so you think you can tell heaven from hell,
blue skies from pain.
can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
a smile from a veil?
do you think you can tell?
and did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
hot ashes for trees?
hot air for a cool breeze?
cold comfort for change?
and did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
how I wish, how I wish you were here.
we're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
running over the same old ground.
what have you found? The same old fears.
wish you were here.

things i'm grateful for: christmas 2011
"yes, it's more than a little twee in places, but how can this festival ever be anything but? a few glasses of orange-peel-scented grog and you start to appreciate the work that goes into those little gingerbread houses with their snowy roofs and tiles made out of sweeties; the heart-shaped cookies and oranges stuffed with cloves; the extraordinary array of glass baubles and musical boxes. this is also where you come for paper plates of sharp shredded cabbage and slender sausages, twists of bread dough and slices of spice cake, paper bags of chestnuts fresh from the roaster, baked potatoes and mugs of steaming wine.
vienna, it would see, is made for christmas.." - observer.co.uk, nigel slater
it was a blessed christmas day!
our christmas day morning was spent playing with baby's gift from oma and opa - a train set!
how could we not take advantage of a beautiful, sunny day? it was a very ideal day to go walking around...the schonbrunn palace!

my favorite holiday
...hands down, is the christmas season.
how can you not love christmas?
aside from the spiritual and religious aspect, there is just something about this holiday that cheers you up and makes you feel like a kid again.
i am just thankful that although we are living in a muslim country, different religions and celebrations are tolerated here.
so the christmas tree is up, the advent calendar is waiting to be filled, baby is starting to say "mas" for "christmas" and "noe" for "snow." yes, we are in the desert, but one can pretend, eh? anyway, we have ski dubai and the weather now is just gorgeous.
there's also a festive mood in the neighborhood- a beach soccer game, an open-air market, tourists in their warm clothes...
and more christmas songs!

things i'm grateful for: road trip! (munich)
we left the house with opa with the sun shining, and we arrived in tollwood with rain pelting us like there's no tomorrow.
we ran to the nearest tent with a band playing jazz music.there were lots of people, and of course, baby was fascinated with her surroundings.
she was wearing her pink dirndl (a traditional bavarian costume).too bad she could not really show it off as we had to cover her up.

weekend roundup
it was a weekend just for us! friday was beach day as we took baby out to the sea.and oh, how she loved it!
we were quite surprised as it was not hot as we thought it would be.we went out at around half past seven in the morning, and went back home two hours after.we would not have gone home yet, except that baby swallowed some sea water and we did not have her water bottle with us!

eid mubarak
since it's eid (end of Ramadan) tomorrow, we don't have work starting today until sunday.my husband needs to go to work though.
if i were single, i would have hopped on a plane and go somewhere in southeast asia.really, i used to do this a million years ago.the cities in southeast asia are the easiest choice 'cos i don't require a visa.

ramblings
mr t probably got tired of my whining: my neck hurts, my back hurts etc that he finally decided to get me a "work station." we went to ikea last thursday after work.we managed to find this nice chair and desk.before i would just plop the laptop on the couch and type away.
no wonder i'm having neck/shoulder troubles.speaking of which, the physical therapist in our office clinic just called me and said i still have two sessions of therapy.yay.according to her, my insurance called the clinic and told them i still have two pending sessions.well, i don't know how it works, but i immediately booked myself for 2 more (free) massages!
